Awards

Since opening its doors for business in 1985, SUKM has achieved numerous milestones and awards for its processes and practices. Most notable among these achievements and accolades are the following:

-Registration to the ISO 14001 standard achieved in 1995 (SUKM was the first factory in Wales and first electronics manufacturing plant in the UK to achieve this registration, and the second Sharp factory globally after the Hiroshima plant). Registration to the new ISO 4001:2004 standard achieved in October 2005.

-Green Apple Award, Silver Award for Business & Commerce in Wales for Environmental Best Practice and the Green Heroes Award in June 2007 for the RoHS project.

-Highly Commended in the Wales Business & Sustainability Awards 2007 and 2008 for “Sustainability & Environmental Reporting”

-Joint winners in the Wales Business & Sustainability Awards 2008 in the “Recourse Efficiency – Waste, Raw Materials & Utilities” category.

-Overall Winners of the Wales Business & Sustainability Awards 2008
