Microwave oven appliances

Our manufacturing company based in the UK has a long history of developing and manufacturing microwave ovens for the European market.  Production started in year 1985 and current activities focus on added value built-in appliances and new cooking technologies such as “superheated steam” (steam at temperatures up to 340 Celsius).

The route to FBI (fully built-in) appliances

Consumers have quickly recognised the benefit of microwave ovens that can be built into kitchen cabinets – ovens that match other built-in appliances leaving greater worktop space and a less cluttered kitchen layout.  Manufacturers made this step through the introduction of build-in “kits” but these interfered with clean styling lines and required extended assembly times for installation.  For these reasons we quickly moved to a fully integrated solution where fascias are designed as a single component and the appliance “out of the box” requires no additional assembly.  These “FBI” oven appliances have been manufactured in the UK since year 2004.  Today we offer a wide model range from 17 to 40 litre cavities, solo microwave ovens to full convection with grill ovens.

The build-in dimensions and technique for the multitude of European kitchen designs are well understood by our UK team.  The product introduction cycle is dependent upon design requirements but typically 8 to 12 months.

Advancing into new “one-of-a-kind” technology

Sharp has always been a technology leading company and this drive has continued to influence the trend in cooking technique resulting in the very latest 5th generation “superheated” steam ovens.  These appliances include a superheated steam generator (engine) that heats normal steam to a temperature up to 340 Celsius.  Steam at this high temperature has the capability of cooking and browning the food whilst retaining vitamins and reducing salt and fat content which we know is essential to supporting a healthy lifestyle.
