The UK is experiencing a surge in the number of installations of solar PV (Photo Voltaic) technology across the country. Recent research from AMA forecasts there will be 30,000 solar PV installations by the end of 2010. This figure is expected to grow to 180,000 installations per year in 2015 and reach more than 300,000+ by 2020.
To meet the surge in demand for solar installations, Sharp UK Manufacturing (SUKM) is looking for the UK’s top trades people - from electricians, roofers, building contractors to heating engineers – to join the new Sharp Renewable Energy Academy.
The Sharp Renewable Energy Academy, open to UK residents, has the capacity to train 25 - 50 solar panel installers per month – providing them with professional solar installation skills and a valuable foothold in the renewable energy industry.

The Sharp Renewable Energy Academy provides a range of training to suit your experience – ranging from teaching an understanding of solar principles, to understanding components, capabilities, and practical considerations like wiring and mounting hardware. In order to maintain high standards of product performance, safety and customer satisfaction, Sharp UK Manufacturing provides the most comprehensive installation training in the industry.
An average sized £15,000 solar installation typically earns around £3,500 for the installer – and takes 2 days to complete.
Fees for the Sharp Renewable Energy Academy training courses range from £275 - £1000 – so the training usually pays for itself with a single installation.
Legally, every UK solar installer must attend the independent Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) to become accredited against robust criteria designed to protect consumers. For example, for solar PV installations to be eligible to receive the Government’s Feed in Tariff (FiT) they must be installed by accredited installers. The Sharp Renewable Energy Academy provides an excellent grounding in the MCS Installer certification. In conjunction, the Sharp Renewable Energy Academy & MCS qualification demonstrates a superior level of competence in carrying out robust, reliable solar installations across the UK.
Become a Sharp Accredited Partner
The most competent, skilled installers to pass through the Sharp Renewable Energy Academy will also be invited to attend additional training to become an accredited Sharp PV-Partner.

The courses provide a blend of classroom discussion and hands-on installation experience on simulated rooftops at the Sharp Renewable Energy Academy. As well as receiving step-by-step tutoring, you’ll receive relevant technical manuals that will serve as effective references for when you’re in the field.
