Super Green Initiatives

Since the 1990s, Sharp’s Super Green Strategy has aimed to establish environmentally sustainable domestic and overseas manufacturing systems. The super green initiatives examine all aspects of the production processes from use of natural resources to end of life disposal ( “cradle to grave”) and each stage is evaluated including:
  • The management and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions
  • Minimising energy usage
  • Minimising waste generated during manufacture
  • Minimising use of natural resources
  • Managing chemical substances
  • Maintaining harmony with nature and with the community
  • Promoting environmental consciousness
  • Recycling
  • Annual reporting
These aspects are continually monitored and controlled, and progress is measured against stringent environmental objectives. The Sharp factories have to achieve exceptionally high scores to gain the internal award of “Super Green” status. SUKM achieved the internal “Super Green” status in 2007.
